Hello friend
For the first post of a new blog type thing I always start with a post titled Hello friend. This is inspired by Mr Robot which pretty much starts off with that very line. Yet, I feel it's an apt way to start these things as essentially I'm talking to not only an unknown audience but also initially to myself. If you've seen Mr Robot that last part will make a bit more sense.
Anyway, why another blog? Especially as I'm still very happy with my main blog Relative Nostalgia. That blog was always meant to be an extension of my "professional" portfolio and a place to test out research ideas through writing. Blogging has been an effective methodology for me which is why I was keen to continue it. I also enjoy writing about videogames and other related media and it has been a good place to do that.
However, I did occasionally use it for blogging about myself, and whilst this wasn't out of place, I did find it stood out a bit. Therefore, the idea for this place is for those other types of writing. More like thoughts I might have put on social media, but longer, and also actually posting it. So many times I'll start writing a post only to delete it, as it just felt like noise. Sure, it will still be basically noise here, but more consistent.
I've seen others use their blog with Pagecord as a kind of diary, in some ways that's what I'm doing, but it won't be quite as in depth as that. You don't need to know what my day is like. Plus, as I'm a lecturer, it's not as if I can talk about my students. Therefore, any thoughts will be outward facing.
That's it for now. If you want to keep up with these posts, there is the RSS feed you can find at the top.
