Returning to Animal Crossing New Horizons

This week the 3.0 update and the paid optional Switch 2 upgrade (4K and mouse controls) came out for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Aside from briefly playing it again before Christmas to check that my save file did actually copy over from my Switch 1, it had been around 2-3 years since I last properly played it.

My island of Sanctuary isn't too much of a mess, although there are a lot more fruit trees than I remember. I'd actually done more to the island than I realised. The new update adds a hotel to the island and with it more opportunities to decorate rooms according to a theme. This is essentially a very similar premise to that of paid (or free with the Nintendo online subscription) expansion Happy Home Paradise.

I've been playing it this morning as I enjoy a very much needed day off. The 4K is nice and mouse controls make moving things around so much easier. I haven't got into the amiibo and Lego themed pieces just yet, but I'm excited to be pottering around in it again.

*Also, the Nintendo Switch app makes it much easier to quickly get your screenshots onto other devices.
