The Ocarina of Time Remake is real

The rumours were true, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is a thing. Now, Nintendo absolutely despises leaks, and judging by the "footage" Nintendo showed today I wouldn't be surprised if the announcement (confirmation) today was Nintendo's hand being forced far sooner than it would have otherwise.

Whilst Nintendo is often accused of remaking its games often, in practice it's not as much as we are led to believe. Sure, Star Fox is on its third or fourth (depending on who you ask) reimagining as a whole though, Nintendo is often more creative with how it reinterprets entities - be that characters or locations - meaning a straight remake is not always what we get.

Now, with this "trailer" of this in development version of OoT we see very little, it's just a retelling of the setup for the game. Plus, the visuals don't seem demonstrative of what the actual game could look like. So far, it seems very Unreal Engine tech demo. Even though obviously it will not be made using UE (Nintendo dabble with Unity but I can't yet see them using Unreal).

Do I want a remake of OoT? I'm not against it. The 3DS remake of OoT was very good and had exactly the kind of quality of life improvements needed. Yet, this version would need to do more. For now though, what that "more" would be, I'm not sure.

It's something I will be thinking about and also paying very close attention to.
